...As part of their Dream Link Project (「Dream Linkプロジェクト), the Tigers held a Ground Walk (グランドウォーク) after the game -- 100 groups of fans were allowed onto the field for a stroll.

...Yuya Ando became the first pitcher in franchise history to record his third consecutive opening day victory on Friday.

...Akinobu Mayumi held a mini kick-off party at Kyocera Dome prior to their game against the Yokohama Bay Stars on Friday.

...As mentioned before, Maki Tamaru threw out the ceremonial first pitch on Friday.

...Nike started collecting messages for Kenji Johjima from fans at their Osaka store on Thursday.  Messages that have been received will be added to a larger banner and displayed in one of the shop windows.  The finished banner will then be given to Johjima himself.

Fans that submit messages are also eligible to win one of 20 autographed balls.  The cut-off date is 4/4.

...The Tigers held a 3 hour practice at Kyocera Dome on Thursday.

...Akinobu Mayumi told reporters that his starters will likely have pitch count limits on them early on during the season as they build up their arms (bad weather and bad starts limited the amount of work starters were able to get during exhibition play).  And that means he'll be relying on the bullpen quite a bit, which is fine for Mayumi because on a whole, the bullpen has pitched well.

Seems Mayumi will be using this approach for at least the first go around against all 5 NPB clubs (so for the first 15 games on the schedule).

...Matt Murton is eager to get off to a good start.  He will likely be the starting center fielder, batting lead-off.

Murton also told reporters after practice on Thursday that he had plans to eat yakiniku for dinner.

...Yuya Ando will be going for his third consecutive opening day victory.  If he get the win, he'll become the first pitcher in franchise history to win three in a row.

...Takahiro Arai decided on Thursday that he'll be using a glove made by Kubota Slugger this year.  Arai had tried out a number of different gloves since the start of Spring camp and felt most comfortable with the Kubota Slugger glove.  Arai used to have a contract with Mizuno that also covered his glove, but at the end of last season, he had his contract modified to exclude gloves.

...Tatsuya Kojima tossed a simulated game at Kyocera Dome on Thursday.  He faced 9 batters and allowed 2 hits.  His first regular season start will likely be on the 30th against the Hiroshima Carp.  Kojima was originally supposed to start a Ni-gun game on Thursday, but the game was canceled due to rain.

...Kyuji Fujikawa needs only three more saves to tie the franchise record of 130 saves, set by Kazuyuki Yamamoto back in 1987.

...The Tigers' starters for the first two series of the season:

vs Bay Stars: Ando, Keiji Uezono, Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi

vs Hiroshima: Atsushi Nomi, Yasutomo Kubo, Kojima

...The Tigers's official site is carrying an interview with Takashi Toritani (in Japanese).
