...From Sunday's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars:
...The 7 and 8 hitters, Craig Brazell and Kodai Sakurai, combined to go 3-for-6 with 2 home runs, 2 run scored, and 2 RBIs. The combo of Brazell and Sakurai have the makings of a very powerful punch at the bottom of the Tigers' line-up.
...Tomoaki Kanemoto continued his struggles, going 0-for-4 in the game. He is now 1-for-11 (with 2 walks) to start the season. Takashi Toritani isn't doing much better after swinging a hot bat during exhibition play. Like Kanemoto, he went 0-for-4 during the game and has only one hit since the start of the season (1-for-10 with three walks and a sac hit). The two players are the Tigers 3 and 4 hitters.
...Tsuyoshi Shimoyanagi apologized for allowing the Bay Stars to score first and stopping the team's winning streak at two.
Shimoyanagi's final line: 5 IP, 24 BF, 84 NP, 8 H, 2 SO, 1 BB, 2 R, 1 ER.
...The Tigers announced on Monday that they re-signed Ikusei player Kenichi Tagami to a regular contract. His new uniform number will be 61 (from 126).
...Kenji Johjima is apparently enjoys playing in the Central League. It seems part of that has to do with playing under non-DH rules.
...It seems Shinta Hifumi (Tokai Sagami) is one of about 30 high school players that the Tigers are keeping their eye on. Ken Okamoto (Kobe Kokusai-dai) and Haruki Nishikawa (Chiben Wakayama) are two others.
