...The Hawks promoted Sho Iwasaki to Ichi-gun on Tuesday in case they needed a long-man out of the bullpen over the next couple of days.

...Seems like Yoshiaki Fujioka will be the Hawks' 5th man in the rotation (behind the mainstays Toshiya Sugiuchi, Tsuyoshi Wada, Dennis Houlton, and Kenji Otonari).  He'll get his first start of the regular season on 4/3 against the Rakuten Eagles.

...Potential starters for the next 6 games: The Hawks will likely start Houlton, Shingo Tatsumi, and Wada (5 days rest) during their upcoming 3-game series against the Seibu Lions.  After that, it will likely be Sugiuchi, Fujioka, and Otonari.  It seems the Hawks are trying to schedule Houlton and Sugiuchi to pitch in different series so that they can increase their chances for winning at least one game.

...Tatsumi threw a lot of curves during an exhibition start against the Seibu Lions on 3/3.  He told reporters on Monday that he plans to mix things up a bit more when he faces them during his first regular season start on Wednesday.  Tatsumi also plans to be especially careful with Dee Brown, a batter that hit home runs off of him on 3/3.

On Monday Tatsumi threw about 60 pitches in a bullpen session.

...Nobuhiko Matsunaka could make a return to his regular clean-up spot in the line-up against the Seibu Lions.  He has been hitting in the 5 hole since returning on the 26th.

2010 Draft

...Seems Sadaharu Oh is thinking of catching a Waseda game this year so that he can see Yuki Saito and Tatsuya Oishi pitch with his own eyes.  But he also doesn't want to cause a big fuss if he does, so if it happens, it'll likely happen unannounced.  Both players are at the top of the Hawks' list of potential players to draft in 2010.
