...From Thursday's game against the Yomiuri Giants:

...The Bay Stars lost, 12-2.

...Shunichi Murata and Terrmel Sledge went a combined 0-for-8 (5 ground ball outs including a double play).  That's fairly significant considering Seiichi Uchikawa (lead-off) and Jose Castillo (number three hitter) went a combined 5-for-9.

...Stephen Randolph had a shaky start, giving up 7 runs over his first two innings of work.  He settled down a little after that, holding the Giants to just 2 hits over the next three innings.  The Giants also stole three bases while Randolph was pitching.

There was also some bad luck involved, like a bunt by Tetsuya Utsumi that could have rolled foul, but didn't, and ended up an infield single (2nd inning) and Sledge misplaying a ball into a double.

Randolph's final line: 5 IP, 26 BF, 108 NP, 8 H, 2 SO, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 7 R, 6 ER.

...Kosuke Kato ran into trouble in his one inning of work, giving up 5 runs (all earned) on 3 hits and 3 walks.

Kato's final line: 2 IP, 9 BF, 12 NP, 3 H, 1 SO, 3 BB, 5 R, 5 ER.

...When the Bay Stars beat the Yomiuri Giants on Wednesday, they pulled out of last place for the first time since 4/5/2008.  And despite losing again on Thursday, with the Carp not playing a game they'll enjoy 5th place for at least one more night / day.

...The Bay Stars posted details of their two-game series against the Yakult Swallows at Okinawa Cellular Stadium.
