Softbank Hawks: April 2, 2010

...From Thursday's game against the Seibu Lions:

...Three things worked in favor of the Hawks --

  1. Koji Akiyama started Hiroshi Shibahara in left (his first time in the starting line-up since 5/16/2009).  He went 1-for-5 with a double, a run scored and 2 RBI.
  2. Yuya Hasegawa was moved up to the three hole, which was a career first for him.  He went 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI.  Hawegawa also had a stolen base.
  3. Jose Ortiz was the starting DH and batted 6th.  He went 4-for-5 with a home run, 2 runs scored, and 4 RBI.

Those three players accounted for 7 of the 11 runs the Hawks scored in the game.

...Tsuyoshi Wada struggled throughout his start (14 first pitch balls and ran the count to 2-0 nine times), but still managed to toss 5 solid innings.

Wada's final line: 5 IP, 23 BF, 85 NP, 5 H, 3 SO, 3 BB, 4 R, 4 ER.

...Yasushi Kamiuchi had a nice outing, striking out four batters in two inning of work.

Kamiuchi's final line: 2 IP, 6 BF, 32 NP, 0 H, 4 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

...Toshiya Sugiuchi headed to Sendai before the start of the game on Thursday.

...The Hawks will be selling special discount tickets for S seats on the first Sunday of every month.
