Yokohama Bay Stars: April 2, 2010

by on Apr.02, 2010 @ 8:18 pm, under NPB

...The Yokohama Bay Stars have lost two consecutive series to start their season three years in a row.  The last time they did that was back in 1959.  And it seems they have also lost 12 consecutive series to the Giants, dating back to 5/2008.

...The Bay Stars are hoping recently acquired Shintaro Ejiri will be able to fill their opening for a right-handed, long man out of the pen.

...Player that hit well during the Giants series

Jose Castillo: 6-for-11, 3 R, 2 HR, 5 RBI

Seiichi Uchikawa: 5-for-14, 1 R, 1 RBI

Takehiro Ishikawa: 5-for-13, 2 R, 2 SB

Maybe that 1959 thing is the last time they WON the first two series? :-) I still remember few years ago, first pitch of the new season full of hope and Miura gives up a homerun to Takahashi Yoshinobu from Giants and that was the end of that! the FIRST pitch!!!….

My father-in-law, a long time Yokohama fan, always complained that the team would give him reason to hope until about June and then let him down every year. Lately, though, the BayStars make things clear right away.
