by on Apr.02, 2010 @ 4:19 pm, under NPB

...From Thursday's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars:

...Hayato Sakamoto recorded his first 5-hit game: 5-for-5 with 2 runs -> 1B, SH, 1B, 3B, 2B, 1B

...Hisayoshi Chono recorded his first run-scoring hit: with runners on first and second and 2 out, Chono hit a 2-2, 138km/h fastball for Kosuke Kato for an RBI double.

...Alex Ramirez hit his 9th career NPB grand slam and now leads all foreign players in that category (the NPB record is 15 by Sadaharu Oh).  It was also his 300th home run in his entire career (US + Japan).

...There winds blowing at the game: upwards of 13 m/s.

...Only two lefty pitchers in Giants history have gone on to win their second start of the season after winning on opening day: Tetsuharu Kawakami in 1939 and Tetsuya Utsumi in 2007.  If Utsumi can win his start on Friday, he would become the first lefty pitcher to do it twice.

...College women can get their chance to walk on the field during a special tour called Girls' Giants Open Field.  The next tours will take place on 5/4 and 5/5.

...The Giants announced that they are accepting pre-orders for a photo of opening day that also includes all 28 autographs for players on the opening day roster (no actual autographs, but reprints).  There is a limit of 2010 photos and each will come with a serial number.
