...From Saturday's game against the Yomiuri Giants:

...The Carp lost to the Giants, 6-5.  They have now lost 6 games in a row.

...Yoshiyuki Ishihara hit his first home run of the season.

Final line: 2-for-2, HR, R, RBI, HBP

Kenjiro Nomura told reporters that he was ready to jump out of the dugout when Ishihara was hit by a pitch in the 6th (the at bat after he hit his home run).

...The game was tied at 4 until the top of the 9th when things fell apart of the Carp.  Mike Schultz entered the game to hold the tie, but allowed a run to score on a wild pitch with runners on second and third and no out (combination of a single, an error and two stolen bases).  One walk later, Michihiro Ogasawara drove in a second run with a ground out to second.

Schultz' Final line: 1 IP, 6 BF, 27 NP, 1 H, 0 SO, 1 BB, 2 R,  1 ER.

...Giancarlo Alvarado started his second game of the year and gave up 3 runs over 5 innings of work.

Final line: 5 IP, 22 BF, 90 NP, 6 H, 7 SO, 2 BB, 3 R, 3 ER.

...Kan Otake might be ready to start pitching again later this month (end of April).  On Friday, he played catch and threw the ball 90 times.  He also tossed 70 pitches to a standing catcher in the bullpen.

...The Carp have uploaded images from their first relief presentation on Saturday.
