...From Saturday's game against the Softbank Hawks:
...The Eagles lost the game, 10-6.
...Kazuya Kamenashi (KAT-TUN) threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
...Takeshi Yamasaki was the only player in the starting line-up without a hit. He went 0-for-4: ground out to short, ground out to third, strikeout, strikeout.
...Todd Linden had a good day, going 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored: double to left, single to left, single to right, strikeout.
...Marty Brown became the first manager to be tossed from a game this year (it was also his 9th ejection overall). In the bottom of the second, Linden was involved in a close play at home. When Linden was called out to end the inning, Brown charged the field to argue with the home plate ump, even covering the plate with dirt.
On a side note, the Carp were 7-1 in games Browns was ejected from.
...Hisashi Iwakuma was largely ineffective against the Hawks, giving up 8 runs (all earned) on 11 hits and a walk over 6.1 innings. Iwakuma did record three 1-2-3 innings and even retired 10 straight batters at one point (between the 2nd and 5th innings). Of the 11 hits he surrendered, four went for extra base hits: 3 doubles and 1 home run.
Final line: 6.1 IP, 31 BF, 109 NP, 11 H, 1 SO, 1 BB, 8 R, 8 ER.
...Norihiro Nakamura's home run on Friday was his first since 7/11/2009. It was also only his 3rd home run since joining the Eagles.
