Yokohama Bay Stars: April 3, 2010

by on Apr.03, 2010 @ 9:52 pm, under NPB

...From Saturday's game against the Yakult Swallows:

...The Bay Stars lost the game, 13-12.  They have now lost 3 games in a row.

...The offense went 22-for-46 at the plate.  Of the 22 hits they amassed, only three went for extra bases (two home runs and one double).

...The Swallows couldn't seem to figure out how to get Jose Castillo out: 5-for-5, HR, 2 R, 3 RBI.

...Shun Yamaguchi took the loss in the bottom of the 9th when he surrendered a 2-run homer to pinch hitter Ryohei Kawamoto.  Yamaguchi has lost two of the Bay Stars' last five games.

Final line: 1.2 IP, 8 BF, 34 NP, 2 H, 3 SO, 1 BB, 3 R, 3 ER.

Incidentally, Yamaguchi threw four consecutive fastballs to Kawamoto, all up and in.  Seems his choice of pitches confused Takao Obana.

...Shintaro Ejiri told reporters that he started using a blue glove this year and now feels that fate may have played had something to do with him ending up in Yokohama.  Ejiri's uniform number with the Bay Stars is 52.

Another example of why it is painful to be a BayStars fan. Lose 1-0 one day, then the next day get TWENTY TWO HITS and TWELVE RUNS and….still lose (on a sayonara homerun at that)

Do yourself a favor and go find a new team. Yokohama is good for nothing but pain and suffering and disappointment. Management only wants to sell fish sausages. They don’t care if the team wins, so why should you?

Ummm. Maruha hasn’t run the team for quite a number of years now. The above complaint should be:

TBS just wants the rights to air Giants games.

Despite their effort to color the broadcasts in blue and white, the guests are generally Giants fans staring in some TBS drama that they’re promoting.

I don’t even remember the last time I saw a ちくわ commercial during a BayStars game.

Pardon me. I left Kanagawa not long after the ownership switch. I had completely forgotten about that. I remember thinking, naively, that the team might improve under new ownership.

Yeah I do still find it strange when TBS shows Giants games and when the Newsbird channel on SkyPerfect shows a Giants game with Baystars commercials in between like they did last weekend.

I think TBS still shows the Baystars fan club program….at 4am on Sunday? haha As far as the new ownership, I think that was the president of the Baystars out on the field hugging Sledge when he made the sayonara home run vs Giants? So there might be a small chance of change coming, especially if they somehow do well….everybody loves a winner.
