...From Sunday's game against the Yomiuri Giants:
...The Carp lost the game, 10-3. They have no lost 7 games in a row (first 7-game losing streak since 7/2009).
...Eishin Soyogi was responsible for driving in two of the Carp's 3 runs.
Final line: 2-for-3, 2 RBI -> single to right, 2-run single to to center, walk, foul out to first.
...The second inning ended with Akihiro Higashide getting thrown out at third on a 2-run single by Soyogi with the bases loaded.
...Jeff Fiorentino was 0-for-2 with runner's in scoring position:
1st inning, runners on second and third, 2 out - fly out to center
5th inning, runners on first and third, 2 out - strike out
...Takeshi Komatsu started the game and gave up 6 runs (all earned) on 8 hits over 5 innings of work. Komatsu had a good start, retiring the first 7 straight batters he faced. Things suddenly fell apart for him in the 4th when he gave up a lead-off single to Tetsuya Matsumoto and a home run to Michihiro Ogasawara to open the inning. He appeared to settle momentarily by getting Alex Ramirez to ground out to short. And he struck out Seung-Yeop Lee for what should have been the second out of the inning, but the strike out pitch also happened to be a wild pitch, allowing Lee to reach first. That set the table for a RBI double by Edgar Gonzalez and a 2-run homer by Hisayoshi Chono (things could have been worse, but Gonzalez was actually thrown out running the bases).
Final line: 5 IP, 23 BF, 86 NP, 8 H, 3 SO, 0 BB, 6 R, 6 ER.
