...An elementary school kid apparently retrieved Hisayoshi Chono's home run ball on Sunday.  Carp officials managed to track him down to get the ball for Chono.  In return for the ball, the kid got an autographed ball and sweatband.

During Chono's first at bat in the third inning, the stadium announcer mistakenly read out Chono's uniform number as 8 instead of 7.  The error was quickly fixed.

Some rookie home run dates...  The last rookie to hit a home run: Ryuichi Kajimae on 6/6/2008.  The last rookie to hit their first home run by April: Shinnosuke Abe on 4/13/2001.

...Michihiro Ogasawara recorded his 100th home run with the Yomiuri Giants on Sunday and became the 9th player in NPB history to hit 100 home runs in both the Pacific and Central Leagues.

...With Marc Kroon out of the picture, the Giants will likely use Daisuke Ochi as their primary closing alternative.  Although it seems he won't be their only closing alternative.
