...From Tuesday's game against the Hiroshima Carp:
...The Swallows dropped their first game against the Hiroshima Carp, 3-2.
...The offense managed to score a quick run in the first after Kazuki Fukuchi led off with a double, advanced to third on a sac bunt by Hiroyasu Tanaka, and 1 out later, scored on Jamie D'Antona's RBI infield single. After that, they couldn't get much going , scattering three singles until Aaron Guiel's solo homer in the 7th with 1 out.
The Swallows did manage to get a runner on second in the 4th with less than two outs, but neither Guiel (Soichiro Amaya made a nice diving catch on a fly ball to center) nor Shinya Miyamoto (strikeout) could drive in Norichika Aoki from second. D'Antona (ground out to second), Guiel (ground out to second), and Miyamoto (ground out to the pitcher) went down in order in the 9th.
They also put runners on the corners in the 8th with 2 out, but Aoki grounded out to second to end the inning.
...Masato Nakazawa started the game and was trying to become the first Yakult rookie to win his first two starts of his career. He got through 4.2 innings before being lifted on the losing side of a 2-1 game. As of this post (8:20pm JST), the Swallows have tied the game at 2.
Final line: 4.2 IP, 21 BF, 65 NP, 5 H, 1 SO, 2 BB, 1 HBP, 2 R, 1 ER.
