From Wednesday's game against the Softbank Hawks:
...The Marines shutout the Hawks, 5-0. They are now 5-1 in April. They are also the first team to win 10 games this year.
...Tadahito Iguchi had three doubles in the game and drove in 2 runs.
...Meanwhile, Tsuyoshi Nishioka has hit a rough patch. He is now 0 for his last 10 and 3 for his last 30.
...The Marines scored their first run on a bases loaded walk to Saburo in the first. Their next two runs came in the second inning when Iguchi hit a 2-run double. It's possible the inning could have continued, but Iguchi was thrown out trying to stretch his double into a triple. Their final two runs came in the 7th on two back-to-back sac flies (Tae-Kyun Kim and Shoitsu Omatsu).
...Yuta Omine tossed a 4-hit, 10-strikeout, complete game shutout against the Hawks. He did run into a few problems, like in the first when the Hawks had runners on first and third (got Nobuhiko Matsunaka to fly out to short); or in the third when the Hawks had a runner on second and 1 out (struck out both Yuichi Honda and Jose Ortiz); or the 7th when they had runners on first and second and 1 out (struck out both Yuya Hasegawa and Nobuhiro Matsuda); but other than that, he didn't really have too much trouble keeping the Hawks from scoring any runs.

...The Marines have apparently decided to focus their efforts on scouting Yuki Saito during the Tokyo Big 6 Spring League.
