From Wednesday's game against the Yokohama Bay Stars:
...The Dragons shutout the Bay Stars, 2-0. They have now won 6 games in a row.
...The offense was held hitless through the first 4 innings of the game. Tony Blanco's lead-off double in the 5th broke up what was, at the time, a perfect game. But the offense continued to sputter in the 5th, even loading the bases with 2 out, but the inning ended with Takashi Ogasawara striking out.
The Dragons loaded the bases again in the 6th, but that inning ended with Hirokazu Ibata grounding out to second. Then the hero from Tuesday night's game, Motonobu Tanishige, came to the plate in the 7th and slammed his second home run (in as many days) into the left field stands. But that shot would do little to help awaken the offense as Kazuhiro Wada (fly out to right) and Ibata (ground out to short) left runners stranded on first and second with one out in the 8th.
The Dragons did manage to scratch home another run in the 9th when Masahiro Araki drove in a run with a ground out to third, but again, they left a runner stranded on third when Dionys Cesar flied out to center.
...Ogasawara tossed scattered 3 hits over 7 innings of work. He did run into some trouble in the first (runners on first and third, no out) and fifth (runners on second and third and 1 out), but managed to wiggle out of each without surrendering a run.
Takuya Asao tossed a perfect 8th and Hitoki Iwase ran into a little trouble in the 9th by putting runners on first and second with only 1 out, but struck out pinch-hitters Yuki Yoshimura and Yuta Naito.
