From Wednesday's game against the Yomiuri Giants:
...The Tigers were shutout by the Giants, 3-0.
...The offense couldn't do much of anything against Kentaro Nishimura, scattering just three singles with him on the mound. When Nishimura was finally relieved in the 8th, the Tigers managed to put runners on first and second with only 1 out, but neither Matt Murton (fly out to right) nor Ikuro Katsuragi (ground out to second) could get the job done.
The Tigers threatened again in the 9th, but with runners on first and third and 2 out, Shinjiro Hiyama struck out to end the game.
...Outside of a 1-2-3 first, Yasutomo Kubo gave up at least one hit in each of the innings he pitched. And aside from a 3-run third that included a 2-run shot by Michihiro Ogaswara, he managed to keep the Giants off-balance.
