...The Hawks were shutout by the Marines, 5-0. The Hawks had a 3-game winning streak snapped and are now 4-2 in April.
...The offense had a few chances to score runs during the game, but they failed in each case: Nobuhiko Matsunaka stranded runners on first and third when he flew out to short in the first inning; with runner a runner on second and 1 out in the third inning, both Yuichi Honda and Jose Ortiz struck out; and in seventh inning with runners on first and second and 1 out, Yuya Hasegawa and Nobuhiro Matsuda both struck out.
...Shingo Tatsumi struggled with his control right out of the gate: after giving up a 1-out single to Takashi Ogino, he walked two consecutive batters to load the bases. One out later, Tatsumi walked in the first run of the game. In the second inning, with a runner on second and 2 out, Tatsumi walked Ogino, setting the table for a bases clearing double by Tadahito Iguchi. Tatsumi was yanked after the second.
