Games from April 7th:

Giants 10 - Astros 4
Kazuo Matsui started at second and batted second.  He went 0-for-4: ground out to short, ground out to short, strikeout, ground out to third.

Braves 3 - Cubs 2
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted second.  He went 1-for-4: strikeout, fly out to right, ground out to third, single to center (stolen base).

Twins 4 - Angels 2
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted third.  He went 3-for-4: single to right, single to center, double into the gap in right-center, fly out to third.

Marlins 7 - Mets 6
Hisanori Takahashi made his major league debut.  He entered the game in the 10th and allowed a run to score on a sac hit.  His final line: 0.1 IP, 4 BF, 2 H, 1 BB, 1 ER.  Takahashi recorded his first official MLB loss.

Ryota Igarashi warmed up in the 7th and 8th but did not pitch.

Pirates 4 - Dodgers 3
Akinori Iwamura started at second and batted first.  He went 0-for-3: walk, ground out to third, walk, ground out to pitcher -> double play, ground out to second.

Athletics 6 - Mariners 5
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 1-for-3: fly out to left, ground out to short, single to right, ground out to short, walk.  He also committed a fielding error in the 4th.


Hiroki Kuroda threw 36 pitches in the bullpen on the 6th in preparation for his start against the Florida Marlines on the 9th.


It appears Hideki Matsui will be starting in left in a game against the Minnesota Twins on the 8th.  It'll be his first official game since 6/15/2008.  Matsui did play left in four games during exhibition play.

The number of Japanese firms placing ads at Angels Stadium has increased from 3 companies to 11 companies.


The Red Sox announced on the 6th that Junichi Tazawa had surgery without any major complications.
