Recap

The Seibu Lions built up a 3-0 lead over the first two innings of the game:

1st inning, with runners on first and third and 1 out, Takeya Nakamura hit a sac fly to left.

2nd inning, G.G. Sato and Yoshihito Ishii started the inning off with consecutive singles.  A failed sac bunt later, Tatsuyuki Uemoto hit an RBI single to right and put runners on first and second.  Yasuyuki Kataoka grounded out to third and put runners on first and third.  Takumi Kuriyama then followed with an RBI infield single to give the Lions a 3-0 lead.

And while the Buffaloes struggled to get anything going against Fumiya Nishiguchi over the first three innings of the game, they finally did come through in the fourth: with two outs in the books, Alex Cabrera and Greg LaRocca went back-to-back to cut the Lions lead to 3-2.  And the Buffaloes claimed the lead in the 5th on two clutch 2-out hits: an RBI triple by Tomotaka Sakaguchi and an RBI single by Shogo Akada.

The Lions temporarily tied the game at four in the bottom of the 7th when Mitsutaka Goto committed a fielding error on Dee Brown's grounder with runners on first and third.  But Goto made up for his fielding miscue with a tie-breaking RBI single in the top of the 10th that gave the Buffaloes a 5-4 lead.

Jon Leicester entered the game in the bottom of the inning and struck out the side for his third save of the year.

Notes

The Lions' three game winning streak came to an end. ... The Buffaloes snapped a 5-game losing streak and finally won their first game in April. ... This was Nishiguchi's second consecutive bad start. ... Perhaps a day off was all they needed?  Sakaguchi and Akada were back in the line-up on Thursday and went a combined 4-for-9 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
