...Hayato Sakamoto has hit in 11 straight games after going 0-for-5 on opening day.

...Alex Ramirez is apparently impressed with Hisayoshi Chono:

I've played in Japan 10 years and I don't think I've ever seen a rookie like him before.  I'm really impressed by his abilities.

...Chono is taking a more aggressive approach at the plate lately (a la  Michihiro Ogasawara), swinging at anything that's not in the dirt.  His at bats from Thursday:

First AB: three swings / four pitches (two out of the zone / two in the zone) - strike out swinging

Second AB: three swings / four pitches (four out of the zone) - single to left

Third AB: one swing / one pitch - home run

Fourth AB: one swing / one pitch (in the zone) - ground out to short

...Tetsuya Utsumi recorded his third consecutive victory on Thursday.  This is the second time (since 2007) that he has started the year with three straight wins.  He also becomes just the second person in franchise history to do that (Eiji Sawamura is the other).  Utsumi's next start will likely be on the 15th against the Hanshin Tigers.

...The Giants will be accepting flowers for Takuya Kimura at Tokyo Dome during their three game series against the Hanshin Tigers (4/9 - 4/11).
