Tokyo Big 6's Spring season opened on Saturday.  Both Yuki Saito and Tatsuya Oishi pitched for Waseda on Saturday and beat Rikkio, 3-2.

Saito: 7 IP, 82 NP, 23 BF, 2 H, 5 SO, 1 BB, 2 ER -- was throwing in the mid-140's

Oishi: 2 IP, 30 NP, 6 BF, 0 H, 4 SO, 1 BB, 0 ER -- topped out at 154km/h

Tokyo University tied something of an embarrassing league record on Saturday: 16 walks in one game.  Tokyo has walked 16 batters in one game twice in its past: Spring of 1929 against Keio and Spring of 1980 against Hosei.

Needless to say, Tokyo lost big time, 14-0.

TV Asahi will running a special feature of the Tokyo Big 6 during their Get Sports program on Sunday night.

The Kansai Big 6 is in its second week and Ritsumei is off to one of its worst starts since 1994 (0-3 to start the season).  And the team that beat them on Saturday, Kwansei, managed to do it by breaking an 8-game losing streak against Ritsumei.

Takayuki Fujii, pitching for Doshisha, recorded his 17th career win, a 4-3 complete game victory over Kwansai.  He also gave up 10 hits and struck out 11.
