From games on the 12th:
Cubs 9 - Brewers 5
Kosuke Fukudome was not in the starting line-up, but did get into the game as a defensive replacement (RF) in the 7th. He did not have any at bats.
The Angels and Hideki Matsui begin a 3-game series against the New York Yankees on the 13th. It'll be interesting to see the fan reaction.
Sponichi is also reporting that TV stations in the Kano area aired 1 h 32m worth of Matsui footage during a 24-hour period after he hit his first home run of the year. And if I'm reading this right, the time frame would have been worth about 1.5BM yen in commercials. In addition to that, it seems the Konica / Minolta billboard that popped onto the screen during replays, as the ball left the park, had about 2m 19s worth of airtime, worth about 32M yen.
Ryohei Tanaka started a game against the Giants' AA team on the 11th. He tossed 6-shutout innings and recorded his first victory of the year (6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO).
Daisuke Matsuzaka told reporters on the 12th that he already asked coaches to see if he might be able to throw a little more during his next outing -- he threw 73 pitches during his last out.
Eri Yoshida is also playing in the GBL this year, meaning that the two might actually face each other at some point during the season (the two play a 3-game series against each other beginning on 8/19).
