...Hichori Morimoto entered Friday's game as a pinch-hitter in the 7th inning and struck out swinging.  In his second at bat in the 9th, he ground out to to third.  He told reporters after the game that he didn't feel any concerns about his lower back.

...According to Sponichi, only three teams in the past have managed to recover from being 10 games under 500 (at some point during a season and following a pennant-winning season):  1962 Nankai, 1964 Nishitetsu, and the 2005 Seibu.  And it seems that the Fighters have a slight connection to the 1962 Nankai team -- in 1962, Nankai became the quickest team to fall 10 games under from the start of the season when they went to 4-14 after 18 games; the 2010 Fighters are now apparently the second quickest -- 5-15 after 21 games.  The 1962 Nankai team recovered after their slow start to finish in second place with  73-57-3 record.

It seems it is also the: first time since 1971 that the team was 10 games under 500 in the month of April; and the first time since 1956 that they are 10 games out of first.

...The Fighters announced on Friday that Suguru Ichikawa filed marriage papers with a 27-year old woman named Yuka Hiraoka on the 14th.
