...Sadaharu Oh was on hand at Jingu Stadium to catch a couple of Tokyo Big 6 games on Sunday (Hosei vs Keio and Meiji vs Waseda).
On Tatsuya Oishi: "He's got velocity. He has a lot of promise."
On Yuki Saito: "He can be a steady pitcher. He's still improving. I'd like another chance to see him pitch if I can."
...Shinsuke Ogura apparently received over 30 e-mail messages congratulating him (mostly from friends) for his first win as a starter on Saturday.
...Shinsuke Ogura recorded his first career win as a starting pitcher on Saturday against the Chiba Lotte Marines. It was also his first overall win since 8/4/2002 (vs Seibu at Fukuoka Dome).
Ogura is part of the Matsuzaka Class -- that is, pitchers that were born in the same year as Daisuke Matsuzaka (1980). There are apparently 24 active pitchers that were born in 1980. Of those 24, only three were drafted out of high school: Matsuzaka, Ogura, and Kyuji Fujikawa (HAN) There are now four pitchers remaining from that group of 24 that have yet to record a win as a starter: Shuichiro Osada (SEI), Kentaro Hashimoto (LOT), Masato Kobayashi (CHU), and Kodai Matsumoto (LOT).
