Nippon Ham Fighters: April 26, 2010

by on Apr.26, 2010 @ 2:33 pm, under NPB

...7-21-1 (6th place):  The Fighters went 1-5 this past week.  Eiichi Koyano went 9-for-22 (.409) with 9 RBI and 3 R.  The upset during the past week had to be Yu Darvish's loss against the Rakuten Eagles on Saturday.  However, it should also be noted that, for one reason or another, Darvish is now 0-3 in his last four starts against the Eagles (since last year).

The offense has also been something of a problem.  Even though they had an 11-run outburst on Thursday against the Orix Buffaloes, they have the worst offense in the Pacific League (3.93 runs / game).  While Terrmel Sledge hasn't exactly been blasting away the competition in the Central League, he has hit 6 home runs and driven in 22 RBIs for Yokohama.  Looks like losing his bat during the off-season hurt a lot more than the Fighters would have liked.

Upcoming schedule: the Fighters begin a 9-game stretch on Tuesday.  They will be play three against Orix (at Sapporo Dome), three against Seibu (at Sapporo Dome), and three against Lotte (at Chiba Marine Stadium).
