...Jamie D'Antona is riding through a tough patch right now. D'Antona has struck out at least once in every game since 4/8 for a total 27 times in 61 trips to the plate over 15 games. In a game against the Yomiuri Giants on 4/17, he struck out four times. Throw in the two times he struck out in his first two at bats during the following game and that's six consecutive strikeouts. On Tuesday, he spent about an hour working on his hitting with batting coach Kenji Awaguchi.
...Hirotoshi Ishii is working his way back from surgery on his left shoulder (although his last injury was getting his right big toe slashed open at a training pool during Spring camp and requiring four stitches) and is currently scheduled to toss a simulated game on the 29th.
...Kazuki Fukuchi (left hamstring) could be promoted to Ichi-gun as early as Friday, but a lot will depend on what he does over the next two days. Fukuchi is currently set to return to action in a Ni-gun game against Shonan today. He told reporters that his left hamstring was feeling great and that he had no worries about it. The Swallows are 4-10-1 since Fukuchi injured his hamstring in a game on the 7th against the Hiroshima Carp and had to be removed from the active roster the following day.
