...Naoyuki Shimizu was diagnosed with a contusion on his right knee.  Tests did not reveal any damage to bones.   The team will take a wait and see approach with Shimizu moving forward.

...The Bay Stars have sole possession of fourth place place for the first time since 4/2008.

...Naoyuki Shimizu was struck by a line drive (right knee) during his outing on Thursday and was scheduled to get it checked out at a hospital today.  Shimizu told reporters that he was able to walk once he iced his knee.

...Just how bad are things for Shuichi Murata right now?

On the season, he's 22-for-108 (.204) with 4 home runs, 5 doubles, and 24 strikeouts (1 strikeout every 4.5 ABs).

Since 4/15, Murata has struck out 12 times in 45 trips to the plate / 42 AB (1 strikeout every 3.5 ABs).

He also only has 6 hits since 4/15: one home run, one double, four singles.

...More on Tomokazu Ohka's Ni-gun start on Tuesday: he threw a total 107 pitches.  Final line: 6 IP, 26 BF, 5 H, 2 BB, 0 HBP, 2 SO, 4 ER.  Ohka took the loss.

...Bay Stars-branded sneakers have been added to the team store (the sneakers are created as orders are placed and will take about three weeks).

...Bay Stars Services will be selling special limited edition patches (ワッペン) of various player cheer songs between 5/3 and 5/5 for 5,000 yen.  The cost includes sticking those patches onto any uniforms fans have with them.

...Ticket information for the Bay Stars' game at Nagano Olympic Stadium on 8/17 have been posted at the team site.

...The Bay Stars will be giving away Daisuke Miura baseball gloves to 10 lucky kids during a two game series against the Yomiuri Giants at Hard Off ECO Stadium Niigata on 5/8 and 5/9.
