Hanshin Tigers: May 1, 2010

...Tomoaki Kanemoto's uniform went on display at the Museum of Hanshin Koshien Stadium earlier today and will be on display at the museum until the 9th.  After that, the uniform will head to Cooperstown.

12:15pm JST

...Yuya Ando is currently at Ni-gun to get some extra work in.  He has been focusing primarily on strengthening and conditioning exercises (sprints, playing catch, weight training) so far and could get to pitch in his first bullpen session today.

10:45am JST

...Don't look now, but the Tigers are only 2 games out of first.

...The Tigers won their second walk-off game of the year on Friday night on Takashi Toritani's bases loaded single in the bottom of the 9th.  It was Toritani's first walk-off hit since 6/3/2006 (vs Softbank).

...Matt Murton recorded his second 3+ hit outing of the year on Friday night: 3-for-3, 2 BB, 2 R, 1 SB.  Murton has a total 12 multi-hit games so far this year.

    Man, Murton is on fire. I wonder when the last time Hiyama hit a triple was? (Don’t mention the fact that he was actually out at third by about six inches, heh.)

      Hiyama actually hit a triple last year. 6/3 vs the Rakuten Eagles to be exact.
