...Hirokazu Ibata was taken off the active roster on the 5th and is scheduled to get his left flank / back checked out at a hospital at some point today. This is the first time Ibata has been taken off the active roster since 8/30/2008 when he injured his right knee. If it's a simple contusion, Ibata could be back on the active roster in 10 days time, but if it's something more, he could end up missing a month or more of playing time.
...Hiromitsu Ochiai on Chen's recent struggles:
"I'm not going to let him slide. Besides, what does it matter. He should get lit up. The worst thing that can happen is he gets demoted [to Ni-gun]. If you consider his future, there's no sense in making things easy for him. Why should anyone throw him a life raft (or, why would anyone throw him a life raft). It's all your responsibility! It isn't anyone else's. Past aces, they managed to get over these kinds of humps."
