...15-21-1 (5th place): It was a rough 9 game campaign for the Buffaloes as they managed only one win (1-2 against the Nippon Ham Fighters, swept by the Rakuten Eagles, and 0-2-1 vs the Softbank Hawks). Tension is obviously beginning to build for the Buffaloes. It started with Akinobu Okada turning down his post-game interview after a loss on the 2nd and culminated in two consecutive games (5/4 and 5/5) where the benches cleared due to an increased number of HBPs.

...The Softbank Hawks hits three Buffaloes on Wednesday, including Greg LaRocca twice. Koji Akiyama tried to explain the situation away by saying that the HBPs weren't intentional (read: bad control) and that it wasn't even the "right time to purposely hit a batter." Akinobu Okada countered with:
"There's something wrong with what you just said. Is there really such a thing as a "right time" to hit a batter? And are you saying that just because a pitcher has bad control, he should be allowed to hit batters?!"
