...16-21-0 (4th place): The Eagles 9-game campaign got off to a bad start when they were swept by the Softbank Hawks at Yahoo Dome. And while the Eagles swept a three game series against the Orix Buffaloes at Kleenex Stadium, it wasn't enough to wipe away reminders that this team is still a far cry from being a serious contender. And if things weren't bad enough when they got swept by the Hawks, they likely got even worse when they faced the Seibu Lions at Seibu Dome. After taking the first games of the series, the Eagles dropped the second game after the pitching staff couldn't keep things together. But the worse was yet come -- a 19 run onslaught during the rubber game of the Seibu series that uncovered just about every weakness the team still has. The Eagles finish their 9-game campaign, 4-5.

...Marty Brown on Wednesday's 19-3 loss:
"Kusano was locked in when we had the bases loaded [in the 6th]. When Makida got picked off, everything change. ... These kind of mistakes at this point during the season really hurt. I think it important to remind the players again of what we're striving for here."
