...22-12-0 (1st place):  The Giants maintained their hold on first place through their 9-game campaign.  They did share first place with the Hanshin Tigers for one day (5/2), but with the help of the Chunichi Dragons, regained sole possession on the following day (5/3).

The Giants went 5-4 over their 9-game campaign, getting swept by the Tigers and quickly regaining those lost games with a 3-game sweep of the Swallows.  They also went 2-1 in their opening series against the Chunichi Dragons.

Notable Stats

51 runs scored
14 home runs
33 runs allowed

...Yesterday was Children's Day in Japan.  Which gives some significance to the fact that the Giants managed to hit 5 home runs on 5/5.  Alex Ramirez also happened to be one of the players that went yard yesterday.  The significance there?  Asides from the fact that he wears the uniform number 5, he also apparently promised some kids before the game, during an autograph session, that he would do his best to hit a home run for them.

Incidentally, the last time the team went yard 5 times in one game was on 6/8/2009 against the Rakuten Eagles at Tokyo Dome.

...Yoshinobu Takahashi started in right (yesterday) for the first time since 10/24/2008.

...Shun Tono recorded his first complete game shutout of the year yesterday.  It also happened to be the team's first complete game of the season and his first complete game, no walk shutout of his career.  Tono's last shutout came on 7/14/2009.

Tono also now leads the Central League with 6 wins.
