Softbank Hawks: May 7, 2010

by on May.07, 2010 @ 4:30 pm, under NPB

...The Softbank Hawks will start Tsuyoshi Wada, Toshiya Sugiuchi, and Shinsuke Ogura during their 3-game series against the Seibu Lions that begins tonight.  Seems the Hawks will also be pushing these three pitchers in various marketing promotions, including a promo video that features all three players.

...The Hawks will continue trying to limit the amount of work Tadashi Settsu, Brian Falkenborg, and Takahiro Mahara get (especially pitching on consecutive days).  Said pitching coach Ikuo Takayama, "The season is long and we want to avoid any waste.  We'll bite down when we need to."

...Nikkan Sports thinks the Hawks might have a decent chance at breaking their team record of 203 home runs set back in 2001 when four players in the line-up that banged out at least 30 home runs -- Hiroki Kokubo (44), Nobuhiko Matsunaka (36), Kenji Jojima (31), and Tadahito Iguchi (30).  It seems they think Matsunaka, Hidenori Tanoue, and Roberto Petagine could push the offense once their activated again (they apparently also added up the career high homer totals for 9 potential starters and came up with a total of 257).

...The Hawks are offering a discount of 41% when you purchase a set of 12 tickets (outfield, reserved, first base side).

...In conjunction with High School Girl's Day, the Hawks' Dugout shops will be giving away pink Hawks' uniform mobile phone straps for every purchase of 3,000 yen or more between 5/9 and 5/23.  While supplies last, of course.
