Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted 6th.  He went 2-for-3: fly out to center, single to center, 3-run homer to right.  It was Matsui's 5th home run of the year.

Mariners 4 - Rays 3
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 3-for-5: double to center, ground out to short, ground out to second, infield single, infield single.  Ichiro managed to extend his multi-hit streak to 6 games.

Red Sox 7 - Tigers 2
Hideki Okajima entered the game in the 9th, with the Red Sox up 7-2, and tossed a shutout inning of relief.  Final line: 1 IP, 4 BF, 1 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Pirates 10 - Cubs 6
Akinori Iwamura started at second and batted first.  He went 0-for-6: fly out to center, fly out to right, strikeout looking, ground out to first, strikeout swinging, ground out to first.

Kosuke Fukudome entered the game in the 8th as a pinch-hitter with a runner on first 2 outs and struck out swinging.

Braves 6 - Diamondbacks 5
Kenshin Kawakami started the game and gave up 4 runs (3 earned) over 4.1 innings of work.  He also threw a total 96 pitches.  Final line: 4.1 IP, 21 BF, 5 H, 7 SO, 2 BB, 4 R, 3 ER.

Kawakami has been throwing fewer two-seamers this year, instead throwing the fastball and fork more.

Takashi Saito entered the game in the 8th and tossed a shutout inning, despite walking two batters.  Final line: 1 IP, 5 BF, 0 H, 2 SO, 2 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.


Daisuke Matsuzaka tossed 93 pitches in the bullpen on the 14th in preparation for his start against the New York Yankees on the 17th.
