Softbank Hawks: May 15, 2010

by on May.15, 2010 @ 2:13 pm, under NPB

...The Hawks are one win away from a franchise total 400 (as the Softbank Hawks).  Koji Akiyama is two victories away from 100 managerial career wins.

...Tsuyoshi Wada will likely be starting against the Yakult Swallows at Jingu Stadium today.  It will be his first start (second overall since turning pro) at Jingu Stadium since 2005.

Wada has a 13 career Inter-league wins.

Toshiya Sugiuchi gets the start tomorrow.

...Hiroki Kokubo focused on running during practice on Friday.  In all, he spent about 2 hours running sprints.  Kokubo told reporters that players that can't hit need to focus on running.

...Hideaki Takahashi will be taken off the active roster today since he won't be needed in the starting rotation during Inter-league play.  In his place, the Hawks will likely call up infielder Tadaatsu Nakazawa.

...Once Nobuhiko Matsunaka is back in game-ready shape, it will be up to him to decide when to return to the active roster.  He should be back in left field during today's Ni-gun game against Hanshin (he sat out the last two Ni-gun games with tightness in his body).

...Sadaharu Oh would like to attend the Hawks' game against the Yomiuri Giants at Tokyo Dome on 5/26 and 5/27, if his schedule permits.
