...Hisashi Iwakuma struck out a personal high (and tied a franchise high held by Masahiro Tanaka and Kanehisa Arime), 13 batters on Saturday.  He also topped out at 151km/h.  Iwakuma told reporters that he didn't have his best stuff.

...It seems Marty Brown felt Naoto Watanabe could have caught a pop fly that ended up dropping between Watanabe and Andy Phillips.  The hit took place in the 5th inning with runners on first and third and 2 out and the score tied at 1.  OF fielding / base-running coach Atsuhiro Motonishi added the following comment:

"Watanabe probably went after the ball thinking the left fielder was going to get it while Phillips lacked the experience.  I want to apologize to Iwakuma."

When asked why Phillips started in left, Brown told reporters it was because he wanted his bat in the line-up.
