...Hideaki Wakui went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI on Saturday. The last pitcher to record 4+ RBI in a game was Yuji Yoshimi (YOK at the time) on 9/15/2003 vs Chunichi. The previous high for Inter-league games (3) was set by Shinobu Fukuhara (HAN) on 6/6/2009 against Orix. He also matched highs for the Pacific League: Michael Kekich (HAM) collected 3 hits in a game on 9/22/1974 and Toshio Kanbe (Kintetsu) had 4 RBI in a game on 8/28/1974. It marked the first time a Pacific League pitcher had at least 3 hits and 4 RBI since the DH rule was instituted in 1975.
It seems Wakui had been working on his hitting since April.
Wakui also recorded his 14th Inter-league victory in his first game at Yokohama Stadium since turning pro.
...Yusei Kikuchi worked out at the Seibu II grounds on Saturday. He did some running, played some catch (at distances of 30 meters), and did some weight training. Kikuchi told reporters that his shoulder was feeling fine and that he felt he could hold a bullpen session in 2-3 days. Ni-gun Pitching coach Takashi Ishii told reporters that he expected Kikuchi to pitch in a Ni-gun before the end of the month (perhaps around the 27th).
...The Lions announced that they will be opening up the Seibu II grounds to fans (for playing catch) before their game against the Chunichi Dragons on 5/22.
