Games from the 17th:

Rangers 4 - Angels 3
Hideki Matsui was the starting DH and batted fifth.  He went 0-for-4: ground out to first, fly out to center, fly out to second, strikeout looking.

Athletics 8 - Mariners 4
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-4: fly out to center, infield single, strikeout swinging, single to left.

Ichiro recorded his 21st multi-hit game of the season.

Yankees 11 - Red Sox 9
Daisuke Matsuzaka started the game and gave up 7 runs (including 5 in the first inning) over 4.2 innings of work.  Final line: 4.2 IP, 25 BF, 9 H, 3 SO, 3 BB, 7 R, 7 ER.

Said Matsuzaka of his start, "I have no words.  There's too much of a difference between this start and my last start.  I consider myself a pitcher with a fairly large number of pitches, but when I make a mistake in how I use them, I can really hurt myself.  I think the biggest difference was that I wasn't throwing the fastball as much [this time around]."

Royals 4 - Orioles 3
Koji Uehara entered the game in the 7th with runners on first and second and two out with the Orioles down, 4-2.  Uehara got out of the inning by getting the first batter he faced to pop out to third.  He ended up tossing another full inning before getting pulled.  Final line: 1.1 IP, 4 BF, 0 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Cubs 4 - Rockies 2
Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: double to left, ground out to first, fly out to center, single to left, strikeout looking.

Phillies 12 - Pirates 2
Akinori Iwamura entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 5th inning and grounded out to short; he did not stay in the game after that.  Iwamura is still recovering from tightness in his right hamstring.

Mets 3 - Braves 2
Takashi Saito entered the game in the 9th with the Braves down, 3-2.  He faced three batters and struck out all three.  Final line: 1 IP, 3 BF, 0 H, 3 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Ryota Igarashi started a single-A game against the Daytona Cubs on the 17th.  Final line: 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 SO.  This is his second outing since he injured his left hamstring.  He will likely be joining the triple-A Buffalo Bisons on the 18th.

Hisanori Takahashi's next outing will come as a starter on the 21st against the New York Yankees.
