Softbank Hawks: May 19, 2010

by on May.19, 2010 @ 2:28 pm, under NPB

...Dennis Houlton will likely be starting tonight's game against the Hanshin Tigers.

...Hitoshi Tamura hit his league-leading 6th triple last night.

...Tadashi Settsu and Takahiro Mahara both allowed runs for the first time in quite some time.  Settsu gave up his first earned run since 4/24 vs the Chiba Lotte Marines, a span of 10 games, or 11.2 innings without allowing an earned run.  Mahara gave up his first run since 3/28 vs the Orix Buffaloes, a span of 16 appearances, or 18 shutout innings.

Incidentally, Settsu still leads both leagues in appearances with 26.

...Roberto Petagine continues to make his way back to game-ready shape at his own pace -- the team doesn't want to push him too hard at this point for fear that he could injure himself.  For now, it seems like the Hawks expect him to be ready for the active roster some time during the second half.  And when he's ready, he'll likely start out at DH.
