Kazuhiro Kiyohara made an appearance at a screening of The Walker (ザ・ウォーカー) on Wednesday to help promote the film and answered a few questions from viewers. When asked to pick someone that he felt had great leadership abilities, Kiyohara apparently answered Tatsunori Hara.
"I've worked with a number of different managers over my career and I think Hara may have been the best leader of them all. We were fairly close in terms of age and he was able to bring out the feelings of battling it out together. ... I'm sure he wanted to ask me more about my knees [when I played for him], but he never did and just completely trusted me. And then when I saw him win the WBC last year, I just felt, now that's a leader."
But more interesting than his opinion on Hara, was his desire to manage himself.
"I'd like to try my hand at it at some point. There's a lot I need to learn though. I've often spent time thinking about it while in bed."
