...Satoshi Nagai threw 50 pitches in the bullpen on Thursday in preparation for his start today.
...Hisashi Iwakuma will likely start tomorrow's game against the Yomiuri Giants. He likened the Giants line-up to that of the 2002 Hawks line-up that contained Tadahito Iguchi (18 HR, 53 RBI, .741 OPS), Kenji Jojima (25 HR, 74 RBI, .869 OPS), Hiroki Kokubo (32 HR, 89 RBI, .907 OPS), and Nobuhiko Matsunaka (28 HR, 83 RBI, .837 OPS).
Incidentally, I'm not entirely sure why the 2001 wasn't mentioned since three of these four players actually had better numbers that year: Iguchi (30 HR, 97 RBI, .822 OPS), Jojima (31 HR, 95 RBI, .773 OPS), Kokubo (44 HR, 123 RBI, .967 OPS), and Matsunaka (36 HR, 122 RBI, 1.036 OPS). Although I guess the fact that the 2002 line-up became the first to have 6 batters with batting averages over .300 does tip the scale in its favor.
...Juan Morillo is back on the active roster again. Here are his Ni-gun numbers:
These numbers don't really scream, "I'm ready for Ichi-gun!," especially the 11 walks in 14.2 innings, but I guess the Eagles really have no other choice. Plus, 9 of those walks came in his first 6 games while the remaining 2 came in his last 7 games.
