...It appears the Hawks decided to demote both Yuya Hasegawa and Hidenori Tanoue after Friday night's game.  Both players have been struggling at the plate as of late: Hasegawa is 4-for-31 (.129) over his last 9 games and Tanoue is 3-for-41 (.073) since the start of the year.

...Both Yuki Kume and Hiroki Yamada were added to the active roster today.  The Hawks will likely rely on both as arms out of the pen.  It's also possible that Yamada might be called on for an emergency start if one of the other starters falters, but it seems both pitchers will likely be spending most, if not all, of their time as relievers.

...Roberto Petagine played in his first Ni-gun game, since arriving in Japan, on Friday.  It was against Chunichi at Yahoo Dome.  Petagine started at first and batted fifth.  He went 0-for-3 (fly out to second and two strikeouts).

Incidentally, Nobuhiko Matsunaka started in left and batted third.  He went 2-for-4 with an RBI.  Seems Koji Akiyama will be adding Matsunaka to the active roster tomorrow.

...The Hawks announced the retirement of club rep Masashi Tsunoda on Thursday.  The chief of team operations (チーム運営部長), Naoyuki Murakami (村上尚之), will be taking over for Tsunoda.

...Dennis Houlton was taken off the active roster today after the team learned that he'll be out at least three weeks with an injury to the adductor muscle in his right leg.

...Nobuhiko Matsunaka could be added to the active roster at any point over the next few days.  It seems there was some talk to add him to the active roster today, but based on the transaction lists, that doesn't appear to be the case.  According to the article I linked to, it seems it was Koji Akiyama's decision to make while watching Matsunaka play a Ni-gun game against Chunichi earlier today.  I guess Akiyama felt he wasn't quite ready.

...The Hawks will apparently not only look at pitching during the 2010 draft, but will also look to see if there's a power bat available -- someone that can replace the likes of Hiroki Kokubo (38 years old) and Matsunaka (36 years old) down the road.

...The Hawks announced the sale of tickets that include t-shirts designed byYuichi Honda (7/2, 3, 4) and Hiroki Kokubo (7/10, 11).

...Tickets for home games in July will go on sale on 5/23.

...The Hawks have posted information about Visitor Days (ビジター応援デー) at Mazda Stadium (6/4, 5) and Koshien Stadium (6/6, 7).
