Games from the 23rd:

Padres 8 - Mariners 1
Ichiro Suzuki started in right and batted first.  He went 2-for-4: single to left, double to left, ground out to the pitcher, strikeout swinging.  Ichiro has now hit safely in 7 straight games.

Cubs 5 - Rangers 4
Kosuke Fukudome entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 9th and flied out to center.  Fukudome took over in right in the bottom of the inning.

Pirates 3 - Braves 2
Akinori Iwamura started at second and batted first.  He went 2-for-5: strikeout swinging, ground out to second, single to right, double to left-center, line out to third.  Iwamura had gone 41 consecutive plate appearances without a hit prior to his single to right in the 5th inning.

Takashi Saito entered the game in the 10th with the score tied at 2.  With one out left in the inning, Saito surrendered a walk-off homer and fell to 0-2 on the year.  Final line: 0.2 IP, 3 BF, 1 H, 1 SO, 0 BB, 1 R, 1 ER.

Tigers 6 - Dodgers 2
Hiroki Kuroda started the game and gave up 3 runs over 6 innings of work.  Kuroda picked up his second loss of the year and is now 5-2.  Final line: 6.0 IP, 25 BF, 6 H (including a homer), 5 SO, 1 BB, 3 R, 3 ER.

Mets 6 - Yankees 4
Ryota Igarashi entered the game in the 9th with the Mets up, 6-1.  In 0.1 innings of work, he allowed 3 runs.  Final line: 0.1 IP, 4 BF, 2 H, 0 SO, 1 BB, 3 R, 3 ER.

Kazuo Matsui has been working out in Houston.  He told reporters that it would be great if a team stepped up and claimed him off waivers, but that if no teams did, he would have to sit down with his agent to talk about what steps to take next.

The Rockies are said to be interested in Matsui.

Daisuke Matsuzaka was apparently invited out to drinks by other starters on the staff on Sunday night.  And it seems Jon Lester jokingly told Matsuzaka tossing a no hitter was simple.
