There were apparently some rumors flying around the Takada would be stepping down as manager, including a report filed by Sports Hochi at 12:04pm JST that had head coach Shunji Ogawa taking over as interim manager.
Those reports apparently are not true. Numerous reports filed after that have Takada denying all claims of a decision to step down.
"I'm not really sure why it was reported that way," said Takada. "I'm surprised. I'd like to ask myself why it came out like that."
He also added, "Considering the team's current situation, it's understandable that talk like this would come out. I suppose it can't be helped."
It appears Shigeru Takada brought up the possibility of resigning during the team's emergency meeting on the 20th. That idea was ultimately scrapped with the team toeing the line that Takada would stay on as manager for the rest of the season.
As for Takada's comments after his team lost to the Marines 20-4 on Saturday, club president Tadashi Suzuki said that he hasn't heard anything from Takada directly and that the club still supports Takada as manager.
