...The Fighters probably have their fingers crossed for today's game. If two of the three remaining games at non-domed stadiums get rained out, the Fighters will likely have to play a double header. Games that get rained out will be made up during a 4-day period in June (6/14 - 17). And since three games have already been rained out, two or more rain outs will mean the Fighters have to play anywhere from 5-6 games over a 4-day period.
Incidentally, the current forecast in Kanazawa: 40% of rain between 6pm and midnight.
...Masataka Nashida wasn't happy about the team's third straight game getting rained out on Wednesday. Said Nashida, "This wouldn't be as bad if it happened back when Hichori Morimoto and Makoto Kaneko were hurt, but to have it when things were starting to come around for the team. There is nothing good about these rain-outs."
...Yu Darvish held a bullpen session (he tossed 67 pitches) at Kamagaya yesterday in preparation for his start against the Hanshin Tigers on the 29th. In order to get a better feel for the zone, Darvish also had Tomochika Tsuboi (currently working his way back from lower back pain) stand in the batter's box for him partway through the session.
Darvish has not won a game since 5/1 (vs Seibu), a period of three starts (two no decisions and one loss).
...Masao Kida's caricatures will be displayed at Sapporo Dome during the Fighters' two games series against the Yakult Swallows (6/9, 10) and the Chunichi Dragons (6/12, 13). The Fighters will also be handing out postcard-sized replicas of Kida's caricatures during the four games (four designs, one design per game).
...The Fighters will be handing out cheer placards to the first 43,000 fans to the game on 5/29 (vs Hanshin Tigers), courtesy Noguchi Kanko. The Fighters and Noguchi Kanko will also be giving away a number of items to Noguchi Kanko Group point card members (both current members and those that sign-up on 5/29).
