Sponichi is carrying a list of comments from various Swallows' players:

"I don't have any words for this sudden development.  This is the first time I've experienced the changing of a manager mid-season.  They say the manager has ultimate responsibility, but this isn't his fault alone.  We couldn't put up the numbers.  Changing the manager shows just how serious the situation is right now." - Norichika Aoki

"I feel so frustrated.  I will play all out tomorrow." - Hiroyasu Tanaka

"It was so sudden...  His supportive words after I won my second game really stick out for me." - Masato Nakazawa

"The situation we're in right now isn't because of the manger, but rather because we failed to produce.  I'm sure the manager was / is feeling frustrated about the situation.  I'd like to approach each remaining game, one game at a time." - Masanori Ishikawa

"This isn't just the manager's fault.  We couldn't win as a team.  As a player, I'm upset we couldn't do any more.  The manager looked really grim / distressed and I could feel just how much he wanted to keep managing." - Ryoji Aikawa

"We were awful, I mean, I felt there was more we could have done as players.  After he returned from the press conference, I apologized to him.  He just wished me luck.  All I can say is that I feel really awful and that I'm sorry." - Shinya Miyamoto

"We're feeling the responsibility.  When he took over as manager, he pulled me over from Seibu.  It's really too bad that things had to end this way." - Kazuki Fukuchi

Acting owner Tadashi Suzuki also confirmed to reporters that pitching coach Daisuke Araki is a candidate to become manager next season.
