Ryozo Kato to visit US for a meeting with Bud Selig

by on May.27, 2010 @ 2:04 am, under NPB

The original plan was to have MLB commish Bud Selig fly in to watch the NPB All-Star Game.  But that idea apparently fell through because the MLB Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony falls to close to the NPB All-Star Game -- the HoF ceremonies takes place on 7/25 while the All Star Game takes place on 7/23.

And so now it seems NPB commish Ryozo Kato will head out to the US some time during the summer to meet up with Selig to continue their discussions regarding a possible Global / US - Japan World Series.

UPDATE 7:35am JST: Seems Kato is thinking about heading to the US in time for the MLB All-Star game (7/13).

The Student Baseball Association's (SBA) committee on setting rules / guidelines for Pro - Amateur match-ups met for their first meeting on Wednesday.  Said Masayuki Naito (head of the secretariat), "The earliest we can get things going with regards to exhibition games between pro and school teams will likely be next Spring."

UPDATE 7:35am JST: A second committee meeting is scheduled for 7/2.  Naito also added that any exhibition games between pro teams and school teams will likely take place only during the off-season.
