Daisuke Matsuzaka started the game and gave up 3 runs over 4.2 innings of work. He took the loss and is now 3-2 on the year. Final line: 4.2 IP, 25 BF, 2 H, 1 SO, 8 BB, 1 HBP, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 WP.
Matsuzaka also matched a career high 5 walks in one inning (the 5th).
Said Matsuzaka, "My lower body wasn't following along properly. This is the result of only being able to rely on my upper body. I also felt a little tightness from my last start. Ideally, you make adjustments when you're not at your best, but I couldn't do that today."

Kosuke Fukudome started in right and batted fifth. He went 1-for-3: fly out to center, line out to left, single to center.
Reds 8 - Pirates 2
Akinori Iwamura entered the game as a pinch-hitter in the 7th (2 out, runner on third) and collected an RBI single to center. He has now collected a hit in five straight games. It was Iwamura's first RBI hit since 4/16 and his first RBI single 4/27.
Braves 8 - Marlins 3
Takashi Saito entered the game in the seventh with 1 out and runners on first and second and the Braves up, 5-3. Saito got out of the inning without allowing a run and ultimately tossed a total 1.2 shutout innings. Final line: 1.2 IP, 6 BF, 1 H, 3 SO, 0 BB, 0 R, 0 ER.

Kazuo Matsui started at second and batted first in a triple-A game on the 27th against the Omaha Royals. He went 0-for-2: walk, ground out to short, strikeout looking. Matsui was taken out of the game on offense in the 8th.
