...Tsuyoshi Wada will probably get tomorrow's start against the Hiroshima Carp. Mazda Stadium is the last ballpark where Wada has yet to record a victory. Hideaki Takahashi is expected to pitch tonight.
...It seems Roberto Petagine's current contract doesn't include any travel provisions for his wife during road games, as his previous contracts with the Yakult Swallows and Yomiuri Giants did.
...J.D. Durbin had his debut as a starter during a Ni-gun game against Chunichi yesterday. Durbin topped out at 149km/h and threw a total 80 pitches. Final line: 6 IP, 26 BF, 7 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 6 SO, 3 R, 2 ER. Durbin next start could come on the 9th.
The Hawks play six straight between 6/22 and 6/27 and could call on Durbin to join the active roster for a start during that stretch.
...Kenji Otonari could be getting squeezed out of the rotation due to his poor performance -- he's 0-7 since his only victory of the season on 4/4 against the Rakuten Eagles. On Thursday, he ran some dashes at Yahoo Dome. Said Otonari, "I thought I'd start over from the beginning. This isn't about trying to show other people that I'm still working hard, but rather just a desire to what I can [in order to get back on track]."
...Nobuhiro Matsuda took some long soft toss BP (10 pitches) on Thursday after his regular rehab works (fielding and basic BP). It was the first time he took long soft toss BP after surgery and Matsuda told reporters he felt no pain after the exercise. The number of pitcher Matsuda sees during long soft toss BP will gradually increase over time.

The current iPhones are loaded with proprietary software that allows players to review past game footage. The Hawks apparently feel the larger-screened iPads would allow players to take closer looks at game footage. All they have to do now is develop the software for it.
