...Seiichi Uchikawa met with the Bay Stars' front office at a hotel in Yokohama earlier today and was informed that the club would like for him to stay on.  No formal negotiations took place -- the Bay Stars simply wanted to show Uchikawa that they wanted him to stay with the team.

Said Uchikawa, "To set this up the day after I got the option, that means a lot.  More than telling me that they wanted me to stay, they said that they would be in trouble if I didn't stay, that made me happy (feel wanted)."

...The Bay Stars showed off their summer uniforms at a press conference earlier today.  The summer uniforms will be worn between 7/16 and 9/5.

...Sponichi notes that the Bay Stars will likely give Seiichi Uchikawa a sizable multi-year deal in order to keep him in Yokohama, perhaps similar to the 6-year, 1.6B yen contract the team signed Daisuke Miura to.  It will be interesting to see what Uchikawa decides during the season.  If he decides to stay with the Bay Stars while demanding a 1-year deal, it could be because he wants to keep his options open for next season, when he's set to earn his international FA option.

...Yoshitomo Tsutsugo worked out with the Ichi-gun team yesterday since the Ni-gun team had the day off.  Seems the Bay Stars wanted to give Tsutsugo a little taste of Ichi-gun.

Tsutsugo's Ni-gun numbers so far this year:

G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI SB CS SH SF BB IBB HP SO GIDP AVG SLG OBP
38 165 156 23 40 3 0 7 64 24 1 0 0 1 7 0 1 41 6 .256 .410 .291

Kanagawa Shimbun has also posted a mini-profile article (in Japanese)  on Tsutsugo.
